★ Does the boat have a roof? Yes, two-thirds of the boat is covered. The front section is open to the sunshine.
-
★ Do you have a restroom on board? Yes. Captain Jim installed a very nice full-size flush toilet in 2005. It’s the same as you would find in an RV.
-
★ Do you have life jackets? Yes, absolutely. We have life jackets to fit all ages and sizes, from infants to toddlers to adults weighing 250 pounds. Our passengers are not required to wear a life jacket; however, we respect anyone’s preference. First-time boaters often wear a life jacket to feel safe and comfortable.
-
★ What happens when it rains? It depends. If there is light rain, the cruise can continue on schedule, or postponed by 15 minutes. If there is danger due to wind or lightning, Captain Jim will cancel the cruise. We want everyone to feel comfortable and have a good time. You can check on current cruise conditions by calling Captain Jim on board the boat at (615) 714-0693.

★ What birds and wildlife do you see? You will always see our favorite bird, the Great Blue Heron. You are very likely to see several other birds. Depending on the season and the birds’ movements, you could see American bald eagles, kingfishers, cliff swallows, bank swallows, osprey, double-crested cormorants, prothonotary warblers, mallard ducks, wood ducks, wild turkeys, white herons, and Canada geese. Occasionally we see other wildlife such as a deer, raccoon, otter, groundhog or snake.
-
★ What else do you see? Water skiers, jet skiers, canoeists, kayakers, families fishing, waterfront homes, fishing boats, houseboats, pontoon boats, speed boats, yachts, tugboats, barges, boat docks, bridges, and occasionally an airplane. Sometimes we get a free air show!
-
★ What ages enjoy the boat? ALL AGES! No kidding! We have had happy passengers as young as six weeks old, and as mature as 98 years old. Young children are usually happier on shorter cruises (90 minutes). Parents love to daydream while their kids enjoy enclosed freedom -- our boat is like a huge playpen on the water!

★ Which way will our cruise go? Some cruises head east (towards Nashville), and others head west (towards Clarksville). Captain Jim sometimes selects the direction based on the current wind, water and weather conditions. Besides traveling on the Cumberland River, you are likely to visit a smaller waterway: Brush Creek, Marrowbone Creek, the Harpeth River or Sycamore Creek. (Please note that we do not travel to Nashville; it would take 3-1/2 hours one way.) Sunset Cruises usually travel through Brush Creek (east) or around Harpeth Island (west); both directions offer terrific views of the sunset.
