Blue Heron Cruises and Riverview Restaurant survived the Flood!
Cheatham County was one of the areas hardest hit by the Flood of 2010. Many people lost everything -- homes, vehicles, and jobs. Yet the county has made a strong comeback.
Riverview Restaurant has been completely rebuilt, from the ground up! At the high water mark, there was 6’ of water inside the restaurant. You can see from the photos above that the entire parking lot and adjacent campground were totally underwater. Today Riverview has an even prettier view (a bit higher than before) and an expanded covered outdoor deck. So you can enjoy your catfish indoors or outdoors, rain or shine! You’ll love the vaulted ceilings, nautical furnishings and gift shop.
Captain Jim moved the Blue Heron to safety just minutes before Riverview’s dock folded in half and buckled (photo upper right). In 2010 and 2011 he made many improvements to the boat, including new seats.
Blue Heron Cruises has moved directly across the river to Riverbluff Park. Our customers did a fantastic job of communicating their support for keeping the boat in Ashland City. With wonderful cooperation from the Ashland City Council, Mayor, and Parks Department, Captain Jim relocated the boat to Riverbluff Park. He now boards passengers from the shoreline of the Park. The Park has ample parking, a playground, a picnic pavilion with restrooms, and picnic tables and swings overlooking the river.

THANKS TO THE TENNESSEAN and Gail Kerr for her feature on the Bue Heron. Josh Anderson photographed Captain Jim for the article, which appeared May 12, 2010.
